Burberry Prorsum | Fall 2008
I always say that Fall 2008 had so many good shows that it's hard to play favourites. This Burberry Prorsum collection however, was really top notch for me. The layered feathers used to create scarves, dresses and coats added a nice touch. The jewel toned palette was also a delight to see coming down a Fall runway show. Another noticeable feature was the knotted drapes which Christopher Bailey revisited in his SS 2010 show.
Diana Vreeland
Diana Vreeland was initially known for her 'Why Don't You...' column which she wrote for Harpers Bazaar. Diana was loved for her joie de vivre lines such as 'why don't you have your cigarettes stamped with a personal insignia' and 'why don't you rinse your blond child's hair with dead champagne...'. She would later become editor-in-chief of Vogue. She was credited with the discovery of it-girl Edie Sedgwick and also assisted then First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy (Jackie O) with her style.
As soon as I watched 1957 film, Funny Face, I knew the character of Maggie Prescott (played by Kay Thompson) was fashioned after the inimitable Diana Vreeland. Afterall, it was she who coined the expression 'pizazz'.

Rock N Rolla
Mick Jagger was the man. Aside from being a Rolling Stone, which would ordinarily cement anyone's place as one of the luckiest men on the planet, Mick also had the good fortune of dating the most beautiful and stylish women of his time.
Mick and Marianne Faithfull dated for about four years in the late 60s. She was apparently the love of his life and inspired the song 'Wild Horses'.
// How hot is that snakeskin suit and those glasses?! //
// with Andy Warhol //
Moving on swiftly after his break-up with Marianne, Mick married the fabulously stylish and muse to designer Halston, Bianca Pérez Morena de Macías.
// fronting Chanel campaign //
In the fall-out of his marriage to Studio 54 darling, Bianca, he began dating and married Texan model Jerry Hall.
These days, the Rolling Stones frontman can be found on the arms of former model and designer L'Wren Scott...Some people just have all the luck, non?

Ne Touchez Pas
Viktor & Rolf // Fall 2006
This show was really beautiful with cuffs, corsages and dresses half dipped in real silver, full skirts and fishnet stockings, but it was the thick face veils that caught my eye. I love how they're not as delicate as usual, but are still beautiful and allow the face to be seen.
The Night They Invented Champagne
Gigi (1958)
Leslie Caron was a delight to watch as Gigi.
This is my favourite song from the film.

Iris Barrel Apfel
'For me the key to personal style lies in accesories'
I'm in love with her signature glasses and those chunky bracelets and bangles she piles on. Iris proves, at 88, that true style is ageless.

The One
Vanessa Carlton + Stevie Nicks // The One
Heroes & Thieves was one of my favourite albums of 2007. I recently started listening to it again. This song is everything...
'...and you think my time's for free, in all the ways you say to me, sweet versions of let's wait and see...'
