|Sing| Hallelujah

originally sung by Leonard Cohen

Jeff Buckley's version was then used in the Season 1 finale of The O.C

In Season 3, Imogen Heap's version was used for the finale when Marissa died

Rufus Wainwright's live cover

and now the song is going to be X-Factor winner Alexandra Burke's first single, which in turn means that the British media is going to assault your ears (and eyes when the video comes out) with the song which is really a shame because it is a truly beautiful song; Buckley, Wainwright and Imogen Heap's versions being amongst my favourites.

The only consolation is that Alexandra did quite an okay job covering the song. My one question is this: when will an X-Factor winner get to sing an original song written just for the purpose of the show's final???

They really need to stop maYne. DaYum. I think the most shameful was the recycling of a sung recorded by the winner of another talent show [A Moment Like This was originally sung by Kelly Clarkson when she won the first season of American Idol] during the season Leona Lewis won.
